Editorial standards
A human decides every story
Nothing is published without an editor reading and approving it. Automated tools prepare drafts; they never publish.
We credit and link the original reporting
- Every analysis names the original publisher and links to its report. We credit the outlet that did the reporting, not a site that reprinted it.
- We do not republish other outlets' articles. We write the context in our own words and add our own analysis.
- We quote a source only briefly and with attribution.
- When a figure or claim belongs to the source's own analysis, we say so ("the AP links this to...").
- We link to versions of a story that open from the Caribbean.
Analysis is labelled as analysis
"What it means for the Caribbean" sets out possibilities, not reported facts. We do not attach a figure to a company or country the source did not name.
Accuracy
- We never invent facts, quotes, names, dates or bylines.
- Legal details such as laws, amounts and charges come only from primary sources or major outlets.
- We keep a running audit log and review our published work every month.
Images
We do not use third-party photos. Our images are generated story cards or licensed images, and every card credits the original source.
Contributors and press releases
Contributor articles and press releases are reviewed before publication. Topics must be about AI or technology. Press releases are always labelled.
